Rumors had been circulating for months that the government had been actively purchasing weapons from the UAE, China, Iran and Turkey. This information was confirmed by satellite images of Ethiopian army bases where UAVs were found: Wing Loong, Bayraktar TB2 and Mujaher 6, Chinese, Turkish and Iranian, respectively.
As it became known, a huge number of weapons, including such a diverse fleet of drones, were brought into Ethiopia through Abu Dhabi, from where 90 military transports with cargo for government forces have been recorded.
Thus, with a wide variety of weapons, the Ethiopian army was able to overwhelm the advancing rebel forces, forcing them to retreat to the Tigray state. Aviation played an important role in this endeavor, successfully engaging the insurgents' ground forces.
