I’m convinced that healthy, adult relationships with a real chance to last in the lives of two people are exactly those where both partners understand that you should act normally here and now, and not think that because you’re loved, everything will be forgiven anyway. When you understand you need to listen to requests the first time, and not be a schoolyard fool who always has to be dragged to the principal to have your head fixed. You can’t bend anyone’s mind or prove, show, or convey anything. Love isn’t torture, not a test of someone’s resilience, not a daily drill of proving yourself, but an exceptional, mature, sturdy bond between two people who respect each other.
