FRANCE: A GAY IMAM OPENS AN LGBT AND INCLUSIVE MOSQUE IN MARSEILLE Ludovic-Mohamed Zahed is the first gay imam in Europe. He campaigns to spread the word of the Koran and make Islam more inclusive of LGBT, trans and feminist people.
In the Third Arrondissement of Marseille (France), the poorest district in the EU, the imam has opened an "inclusive mosque" that will welcome people of all origins and sexual orientations.
For the moment, however, the address of the mosque is kept secret, it seems that some fear reprisals from Muslims who would look unfavourably on the fact of associating the Prophet with the LGBT community.
As a reminder, Marseille is the second most populated city in France and is a city full of diversity: whites are in the minority and Islam is the first religion.
