The modeling industry, represented by the largest agencies in the world, often resembles huge financial bubbles. Where the main victims are the models themselves. Being involved in this deceptive world, girls and boys believe that a future of world-class stardom awaits them. However, the reality turns out to be quite different.
Take for example such industry giants as Wilhelmina Models, Elite Model Management, and Ford Models. These agencies promise their clients worldwide fame, but do little to none, to actually promote their models. Instead of building and developing a model's brand, the agencies trap them in an endless cycle of auditions, shows, and shoots that rarely lead to personal popularity or success.
Most models who sign with these agencies spend their days waiting for casting calls. They spend countless hours in lines, going through endless interviews and auditions. They might believe that their day is filled with important and rewarding actions, but in fact, their efforts tend to achieve nothing. After all that hard work, working at unimportant shows, and participating in boring shoots, they fail to gain an audience or build a personal brand.
To confirm this, look at the Instagram accounts of most of the models working for these large agencies. Many of them barely have more than a few thousand followers. Even if you try really hard, it's quite a challenge to find a model who could amass more than 300 thousand followers. This is clearly not enough to talk about any meaningful popularity in today's world, where digital presence is an important part of success.
Thus, models are trapped in an illusion. They feel like they are taking important steps toward their dreams, but the reality is that they are just wasting their time. Their days are filled with useless activities that bring neither fame nor success in the end. Modeling agencies are bubbles that will burst, leaving behind only disappointment and the realization of wasted time.
