It is about 20 tanks out of 99 vehicles, which were sold to German private company Flensburger Farhzeugbau Gesellschaft.

Thorsten Peter, FFG's sales director, said Denmark has decided to buy back some of the Leopard 1 tanks, which the Danish Armed Forces sold to the company in 2010 and which are in storage in Flensburg.

"We haven't started upgrading any of the tanks yet, but we have done an inspection. We have concluded that we will refurbish 20 tanks within three months, and another 20 tanks in six months."
