1519: Upon the death of holy Roman emperor Maximillian, the Jews at Regensburg numbering about 800 was expelled.
Anabaptist Balthasar Hubmaier called for the expulsion of Jews from the city, turning their synagogue into a church, and accused them of usury.
The synagogue was destroyed and a church was built using 5,000 gravestones which were taken from the Jewish cemetery and used for building the Christian house of worship.
