History is basically a struggle between the power players.
If you go back to the new testament church period of time, you have 3 power players at the table - the Romans, the Jews, and the churches.
But the churches were not a collective like the other 2 parties, at the time.
And to this day, we don't have extant records of most their (the independent churches) activities.
Over time, the catholic church increased in power because the churches saw they were losing the power game, so they began to join together.
Eventually, the church grew to be more powerful than the other 2 players. As a result, the Romans lost power and died out. The Jews however, did not.
During the Reformation, the catholic church lost a great deal of her power.
Who's left at the table now?
What have we had since the Reformation?
The only power player left at the table: jews. They rule everything.

This is a hard narrative for me to accept, being a Protestant, but history doesn't care about my feelings. It is what it is.
